  Admitted from the Littleton Hospital ER 9/09 for 7mm kidney stone. 2 days later they performed surgery to remove the stone. Dr. Horne was unable to remove the stone and placed a ureter stent to allow drainage. Over a period of a few months Kidney and UT infections were persistent. Went to see Dr. Horne, they told us the stent had developed a quarter-sized bladder stone. Dr Horne removed the upper portion of the stent but was unable to remove the lower portion of the stent which was attached to the bladder stone. He scheduled another office visit to remove the other half. 2 days before the appointment the 7mm stone fell and became lodged in the ureter wall. The next day Dr. Sobel performed another procedure to remove the kidney stone, bladder stone and stent remainder. This operation was a success however they placed another stent and planned to remove it 6 weeks later. During a follow up visit, Dr. Sobel decided to leave the stent in place for an extra two weeks. Thursday 9/12/10 Dr. Sobel performed a 5 minute office procedure to remove the stent for over $500. Within a few hours the pain became excruciating and we were advised to return to the ER. Dr. Sobel never called or came by and instead a 3rd surgeon, Dr. Galansky took over the treatment. After 3 days, 2 CT scans and a ultrasound they decided to perform surgery again. After the procedure Dr. Galansky advised that we should seek follow up care at University hospital or Denver General. He stated that he was not willing to do anything else because of lack of insurance. It was very dissapointing that so called professionals would let this problem snowball and then simply turn us away. Dr. Horne was the only compassionate one at Urology Associates and even waived the appointment fee when he removed the stent.
